From Jennifer Munsey:
Through my mother, who is a property owner living in Country Club Estates, a neighborhood across from Roddey Park, it has come to my attention that Family Auto Used Car Sales has applied for rezoning through York county (not city) that would allow this business to store inoperable vehicles to salvage parts from them. Then these parts would be used to repair & sell other inoperable vehicles. The final vote, as I understand it on the rezoning will be January 19.
Following are brief details I have put together:
It seems the public meeting for the proposed zoning change has come and gone. The car lot has requested a change from B3 to ID, which would allow “Salvage” on site. (aka Junk cars / parts) This application is coming up for approval January 19th before the County Commission. The Planning Staff has made a recommendation to approve, but I understand that the Planning Commission has “Not Affirmed”.As property owners we should share concern our property values could be adversely affected if this rezoning is passed. My mother reached out directly (by email) to Brad Crysler a Managing Partner of True Homes. He was in attendance out our HOA meeting a few months back and indicated he was in charge of the Phase 2 project development. We are hopeful True Homes will consider becoming involved in an attempt to block this rezoning as they may have a louder voice than us as individuals.
Please take a moment to email our County Councilman in efforts to have them deny this rezoning; or at a minimum, delay the final vote in efforts to gain additional time to become better educated about the potential impact as it relates to this zoning change.
I have provided the email address below and the email can be as simple as what is noted below (please add your name in closing of any emails sent).

Mr. Roddey,
As a registered voter of this district, I oppose the rezoning of property occupied by Family Auto Sales.
It might be beneficial to call or email True Homes as well: Brad Crysler 704-363-2464 Email address: bcrysler@truehomesusa.com
The more noise we make as a group, the more likely our voice will be heard…
In the comments are additional items that can be copied & pasted in emails you send to save time in drafting something original. Please consider emailing both as noted above so our voices can be heard!!! If we do nothing, we can expect nothing in return.
Those of us who sent e-mails began to receive phone calls from Councilman Roddey:
Councilman Roddey talked pretty much non-stop for 20 minutes extolling the virtues of what this businessman is wanting to do as far as storing junked vehicles until the title is clear. He didn’t have complete assurances when asked about making it so that if Family Auto Sales is sold, the next person can’t use it as a junk yard. I stressed how difficult it is to change zones later on. The Councilman didn’t talk about how it benefits the county or in turning 72 into an attractive corridor for Rock Hill.
